One of them is dead, the other two are has-beens. Lets not discuss them further.

But David Bowie just released a top-selling album....

Bowie = greatest songwriter in history.
Page = greatest guitarist in history.
Elvis = greatest...... American in history.
Now show some respect.
P.S. Yeah, PurpleMonsta, 'Heathen' is great isn't it? 'Slip Away' is one of the best songs of last year.

I hate David Bowie. I just like to prove people wrong

" Bowie = greatest songwriter in history. " In your opinion. Nothing he has done interests me. Appears occasionally on TV to plug a new album or project, then disappears for another couple of years.
"Page = greatest guitarist in history." In your opinion. His music doesn't interest me in the slightlest.
"Elvis = greatest...... American in history. " In your opinion. Had a few good songs, then turned into a fat, washed out, cheeseburger and drug binger, that died thanks to his out of control lifestyle. The greatest people in history are the ones who do their thing and go unknown. You don't know who they are, so you can't argue otherwise.

Song in my head is "The Staggering Genius" by Superdrag. Not one of their best (but still good). Probably in my head 'cause I'm looking forward to them coming over and interviewing them! Yes, interviewing them! I'm so scared. What do I do?

I agree fully that it is only my opinion and I've never met anyone in my life with similar music tastes to my own, but have you honestly never been impressed by a Led Zeppelin solo, or intrigued by Bowie's more unusual works?
As a music "user" the music I hate most is that manufactured pop sh*t (can I say that word here?) you see in the charts everywhere - epitomised by the likes of Pop Idol etc. As such, the music I like most is the really creative, individual stuff which no-one other than the artist would have thought of making. For me, it's what music should be about, not plastic boy-bands singing the same old guff about some girl. I think the creativity of artists like Page and Bowie is an element sorely lacking in today's popular music, and therefore I am a big follower of both of them. I know they're not universally liked but I just wanted to explain my reasoning.
Oh, and I only actually mentioned Elvis as the birthday thing was a bit of a coincidence.
Who are Superdrag?

As far as Elvis and the others go, I mean they're alright and everything, and at one stage or another, they were cutting edge, creating and expanding their genres. I just don't have much time for them at the moment.
Superdrag-
They're an American band rock band with a retro-esque edge that have been around for quite a few years now (they're not some flyby night The Strokes type band). I've only heard a few of their songs myself but some of them were very good.
"Yes, interviewing them! I'm so scared. What do I do? "
As to interview techniques, crivvens! Keep your head up and try not to look overwhelmed, nod occasionally to seem interested and that type of thing I guess. What are you interviewing them for?

That's why I've came up with what I hope will be some interesting questions. The interview is for the "Band of the Month" feature on my new website (coming soon...). Creamie (Superdrag's manager) is even going to see if the record company will allow me to host a Superdrag MP3... I'm also interviewing Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub, though that's most likely to be just via email. Have you heard Keep It Close To Me and Gimme Animosity by Superdrag? They're 2 of the classiest.

Retro, eh? I shall have to investigate. Dunno about the name, but hey, I like Supertramp and Supergrass, so...
Mmmm, Feeder were just on the Late Late show here in Ireland, doing Just The Way I'm Feeling.
Why no-one mention Feeder in this thread yet? I thought it was a requirement!

Well that's the magic of the Forum name, 'Music Discussion' as opposed to 'Feeder discussion'. Any Music-based things are ok, Feedery things are optional.

A bit of 'Name that Tune' is in order here.
The current song in my head is one that is hard to describe, and also one I haven't the clue what it is called, nor who it is by. All I know is the Wombles it isn't.
It's a chill-out, ambient type track, often used in TV programs (I heard it on that 'Wild About Harry' film on TV the other day). It's not a new track, being at least 2+ years old and it predominantly features some kind of brass instrument, probably not a tuba or trombone but something. It is most tranquil. I can't remember anything but the first few seconds of it. Real helpful.
If you can name that tune in my head, and it turns out to be the real one, MAGNIFICIENT GLORY and PRIZES await you, as well as DEATH, but death awaits us all so that's not really your reward, just an unfortunate fact of life.
