On a slight deviation, does anyone remeber when the words "Spanner" and "Spoon" were used as an insult? I know where the former originates from, but not the latter.

No idea chap, however, crime fighting Super Hero, 'The Tick' says, 'Spoon!' as his war cry. Clearly Spoons are terrifying deterrents where fighting criminals is concerned.
