Hey up! Anyone been reading teletext today? Says on p451 Channel 4 that Feeder's new album is finished and the first single is released on September 30, called "Come Back Around". Does this sound believable? Come Back Around was a (slightly below average quality) B-side to "Turn", if my memory serves me correctly. Do the rest of you already know about this?

I love Come back Around, it's kind of like old Feeder and new Feeder packaged into one song. It's also reminiscent of old B-side Cockroach, in that the verse is not of high quality, and yet the chorus is highly catchy. It's probably one of my top 5 Feeder songs at the moment.
Interesting to hear the new album is finished. That's quite sudden. Although Come Back Around was rumoured to be a song on the new album before Jon died so I guess the album's been worked on quite a bit.

For what it's worth, this rumour has been speculated at Kerrang and NME too, and the consensus appears that the lyrics for 'Come Back Around' are different, and that it may be another song altogether. Which sounds stupid to have 2 songs of the same name. Course it may be a reworking of the last tune, but it's extremely unlikely it'll be the same version as on the Turn B-side.

Ben (as in feeder central type) has said it's a different song Just to confirm Come Back Around is obviously a new song

And so Grant and co. have lost the plot when it comes to naming songs. Of all the billions of possiblities to choose from, he decides to have 2 identical ones within the space of a year and a bit. Madness.

Hmmm, well I s'pose they've probably gone and done what they did to Suffocate when that was released as a single, after it was made more "single-y" in 98. That didn't sound anything like the Polythene version. Let's hope they haven't lost the "soul" of the song like what happened with the aforementioned wee ditty. I thought CBA was the worst of the Echo Park B-sides (except Bad Hair Day). Surely Purple, Slowburn or 21st Century Meltdown would have been a better choice, no? (Mind you, I admit to having crap taste in music)

21st Century Meltdown is crap. It doesn't go anywhere, just rambles. Slowburn is ok, but nothing special. The best of the Echo Park b-sides (though there's a few I've yet to hear) is probably Sex Type Drug - Feeder's answer to Blur's Song 2.

Oh yeah, sure, pick the B-side no-one outside the UK has heard! Sex-type drug? Why only on the cassette? WHY? Same problem with San Diego - I expect that was brilliant and all. Still, don't be so harsh on 21st CM - the wee riff in it may be simple, but it's dead "cute", according to some questionned females. Collie, I think you should organise a petition to be sent to Grant demanding a B-side album of tracks which are hard to get hold of! I'd do it myself, but, y'know, I'm very lazy.

Were you into your P2P music swapping services, you could have downloaded the b-sides in question. That's the only way I've heard of the current crop of b-sides as I never buy singles anymore, seeing as they're a rip-off and too short.

Oh yeah, that P2P thing. I tried that, but for some reason the damn program took an estimated 2.5 hours to download (probably cos I live in the arse end of nowhere and the phonelines here are "crap", somehow) so I gave up. Plus I'm not sure I like people being able to find out what music I listen to. It may make me a subject of some mockery.

Now that Audiogalaxy has basically ceased to be, I've given up on p2p services. They all want to install crap on your machine, including spyware and in the case of Kazaza, all kinds of unwanted stuff. So I'm stuffed for future Feeder releases.
By the way, listen to Radio 1's evening session tomorrow night for Feeder's new song. (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 if you can only access it via net broadcast).

What kind of stuff did they want you to install?
Just curious and no one else is talking about anything....

I can't remember to be honest, as I never downloaded the thing. Just a bunch of crap that I've heard from anti-spyware sites that are incredibly difficult to remove (some people even reformated their harddrives to get rid of the stuff). Also, this may have been related to Morpheus, or not, but there was this incidence where you logged on and someone was sending information down the line that altered your system registry and what not. There was a fair bit of news about it at www.theregister.co.uk but my sieve like mind has forgotten. Edit............. www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/23532.htmlwww.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/25945.htmlwww.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/24281.htmlSome crap related to the p2p services. Apparently there's a hacked version of Kazaa that doesn't installl any spyware and removes banner ads... though it's probably not legal to use. Like the original is either.

Damn it! Missed the evening session - any good? I assume by now you've seen the announcement on Feederweb of the release date for the new album "Comfort In Sound". Wouldn't it be funny if the new song "Helium" sounded exactly like "Oxygen" only in a higher key??? Actually no, it would be anartistic faux pas, with a mild hint of irony.
