for any of you who don't check feederweb very often, or don't use the official message board:
Jon Lee 1968 - 2002
It is with the deepest regret that we must announce the tragic and premature death of Feeder drummer, Jon Lee.
Jon took his own life on Monday, January 7th, at his home in Florida. He is survived by his wife Tatiana and a son Cameron. Jon was 33.
Our sincere and heartfelt sympathy extends to Jon's family, fellow Feeder members Grant and Taka and all his friends.
A statement from Feeder reads: "We will miss him more than melody. We're utterly devastated."
At this dreadfully difficult time, we would ask that Jon's family and friends are afforded the utmost privacy.

Talk about the mother of all shockers when you've just got out of bed. My brother told me over the phone, I didn't know how to react other than make out I wasn't bothered. But I am. It's difficult to get your head around how someone you admire in a band you admire could do such a thing. Behind closed doors is another world and one we fans are sheltered from. It's a weird feeling knowing he's gone and you had no idea it was going to happen. It's much worse for his family, his wife and son of course, and for the rest of Feeder. This will have turned their lives upside down. So my deepest sympathies to all those.
And at least Jon won't be forgotten. He was part of one of the best bands around and people will still be enjoying the music for years to come. So rest in peace Jon and know that we'll all miss you.

I read it on teletext this afternoon after reading about his behaviour over the last few months, i can't say i'm all that suprized about the outcome. all that reclusive (and particularly his reluctance to tour and do publicity events) behaviour shouts at a nasty bout of depression. a bit blunt and i'm sure you're all gonna bitch at me now to be honest i should have seen it coming, even though there would have been nothing anybody could have done Rest in peace Jon, i hope you've found the peace you've been looking for.

I don't think anyone could have really saw it coming, not fans anyway. Not wanting to do publicity events could have been down to personal preference and maybe he was bored of them. I'd imagine they get pretty mundane after a while.
It's hard to get your head around isn't it, someone you admire in a band feeling they needed to take their own life. The odd for me is that just before I heard the news, I'd been asleep and dreamt about whether or not to commit suicide myself! Not a nice thing to dream about at all - but in the dream I met up with my sister and her kids who I hadn't seen for years and thought I'd miss them too much and they'd miss me if I went. Then to wake up and pretty much the first thing I heard was Jon had ended his life, well that was really weird, and difficult to take in.
It's a pity he couldn't have sorted things out and been able to see that leaving all those people behind wasn't necessary.
