Buy a used one. I'd sell you mine but I seem to have misplaced it. As well as my guitar.
I wouldn't recommend buying one off Ebay because you have to be able to touch and play with an instrument before you decide if its a good one.

Get your arse back up to Manchester. Go to the Academy Of Sound off Oxford Road. You can pick up a decent Yamaha for £129. With amp, leads and gig bag.

yeah id definately play on it before u bought it... Kinda like trainers... you wouldnt buy em without trying em on... Guitars are very similar... SOme guitars / basses just feel right, otehr dont... When i tried out the telecaster it was nicely balanced, felt great to play, I tried out an sg too... Hated it, was totally headstock heavy felt like i was having hold the thing level, which i was.... hehe
