I just play using the standard view, I find this the most useful.
Maybe I have a special play station.

Are you playing in wide view, or whatever the most zoomed out view is? Because with that view during corners there is noticable slow-down on some of the bigger grounds. And also some when it zooms onto the goalie when he goes to take a goal kick. It can become quite atrocious, although only for a second or so. The last game had annoying pauses, this one has annoying flickers and slowdown. I can't believe you haven't witnessed any slow down. It's usually just Man Utd fans who never see anything that's going on on the pitch. Yeah I play in wide view. Corners seem ok although I do agree there is a little bit of drag when the view switches to behind the goalie. That is such a pointless addition

Interesting - the slowdown is considerably less when in 50hz mode.

I only have a 50MHZ TV. That could explain it.
I won the English League with Man City yesterday, yeah!

Interesting - the slowdown is considerably less when in 50hz mode. I read that on C4 Teletext today - was going to suggest it but you're too fast for me

Not knowing anything about the working sof tv's, I couldn't tell you why it is.
But we all agree it is a great game, right?

By the way - do you lot think it's more arcadey now than before? I was playing against my brother and found through passes split the defence far more often than the last PES titles, and there's a lot more shots in general. Goalies also pull off more fantastic saves. I think it's a bit more like the original International Superstar Soccer on the PS2.
The 50Hz thing works a treat too. Gone is the slow down.
I think it's disgraceful there wasn't a warning in the manual that 60hz mode is dodgy and unplayable. You'd think the reviews in the magazines would at least pick up on it.

Not really more arcady per-se, though I agree through passes work a lot better, but only with certain players. I could never get them to work when playing as England or Man City, but for some reason the US squad seem great at it!
They still habe that annoying thing that if you get a penalty mid-game the keeper will save it 99% of the time unless you put it down the middle.
The only reason I knew about the 60Hz slowdown was because everyone on GameFaqs was complaining about it.
I've finished recreating all the premiershio kits.
Is that sad?

I think it's more realistic, certainly - not sure if that translates into arcadey though. Through ball has been greatly improved in accuracy, perhaps a little bit too much, and yeah there are definitely more shots. 15-20 shots for every 2 or 3 goals is a little bit much - the COM keepers definitely pull out saves way too often, but maybe that's down to the accuracy of the strikers. I hardly ever hit a shot over the bar or past the post.
Is 60Hz the default? Or is it 50Hz if you just go Start Game?

I've finished recreating all the premiershio kits. Is that sad? Why would you want to play with 'real' teams when you can be playing against the giants of Middlebrook or Northluck C??

Ok, if we are in the process of "slagging" the game, why did they remove the option to change the commentry name of the teams?
In fact, the whole commentry has gone down hill, and it was never very good to begin with!
I will be interested to see how this new Master League thing works with players improving as games go on.
I like to do all the other leagues and cups before I start on the masters. I'm stuck in my ways like that.

I play Master League and nothing else. The development is good, although I'm not quite sure why in some games guys will get lots of experience and in others get practically none. Right now my entire team (all youngish players to maximise development) are creeping along with tiny improvements every game whereas at the end of the last season they were all rocketing up.

It's good they've added the aging players thing to the master league, but unfortunately it means I can no longer rely on the old (and quite cheap players) such as Mostovoi, my playmaker maestro in the last 2 games until I could afford better.
Anyway, one area PES does need to vastly improve on is curling. With the light footballs used in todays football, EVERYONE can curl a ball. Yet in PES how much curling is there? Hardly any. A bit in freekicks. There's a curling skill, but even if a player has only 50 or 60, they should still be able to bend a shot into the top corner.
The one great feature of ISS was you could do a long cross and press your stick in a direction and have a big impact on the flight of the ball. Not a cartoony impact either. The cross field passes were brilliant. PES should have this option too. A bit of bend on a long cross can make the difference between a goal opportunity and a wasted pass.

There are a few other things that piss me off a little, and I kind of expected more improvement on. The players still 'stick' quite a lot i.e. stand still for half an hour while you try and get them to chase a loose ball. The keepers leave balls that they could save from going out quite easily. The team mate AI is pretty dire - if a COM player can throw himself at a loose ball then your teammates should be able to do the same. Penalties are maybe a little too frequent (and, as already mentioned, too easily saved) and the opposing team constantly trips your players.
One good thing is that you're now forced to pass a lot more - in PES3 you could get a lot further, a lot more easily just be running. In fact my dad's tactic for the last 2 PES games was to buy all the fastest players, hoof the ball up to them and then peg it towards goal...

Right, so when is the first Disko.co.uk PES tournament?
