Back on topic....I finished my first season in the ML - won teh Div 2 cup, and came second in the league (3*). Anyway, first thing it asks me to do is to select opponents for teh off season games. Do I have to play all eight off season games, or can I skip them? Also, any one got any tips for decent players at a reasonable cost? For example, in PES3 you could pick Mido up for a salary of 500 and he was excellent. ...and in real life he's shite! I tend not to buy 'great' players, preferring to build up a team of average guys who no one's ever heard of. I don't think anyone in my team is under 24 either - I wanted to really play with the whole training thing and youths develop faster. The best guy I've got is Cesc (dunno who he is or who he plays for) but he was pretty cheap and with a bit of training is looking pretty solid. And you don't have to play 8 friendlies - I'm not sure you have to play any at all - but I usually do about 4 cause it tends to be a much more interesting way to train players than the incredibly time-consuming and mind-numbing regular training.

Ah. Ok.
I have managed to sign:
GK : Some dude I have never heard of, but he is doing pretty well. CBT : Foxe RB : Glenn Johnosn LW : Soem Korean guy whoes name I can't remember RW : C Ronaldo. I hate this guy but he is good in the game OMF : Olembe. Can play anywhere in the midfield CF : Sagaf. Dunno why, or who he is, but he is ok.
I want to sign another striker before the start of the season, and hopefully another defender if I have enough money left. I'm tending to only buy players whose wages are less than 650.
At the end of next season I will try and see how not to select to play all the games, because I think I am stuck with 8 this time around.
I don't mind doing the training, it seems to be whacking peoples stats up. The games themselves don't seem to do nearly as much, but maybe that is because the highest rating I have aver got for a player is 7.0
I'll keep at it though.

Olembe, he that left sided Cameron midfielder with the ridiculously high pace? Signed him before in Pro Evo 2. Or was it 3?

I think I've only made about 2 full price signings so far - the rest have all be 'part exchange' for the shitty starter players.

I rememberd the name of the cheap goalkeeper - Frey.
I still have to use some crappy players, Stremer in defence, Cellini in midfield and Castolo up front.
Olembe was really good as a Striker in PES2 I think. But isn't he one of those Aferican players who is registed as Polish or Belgium or something?

Olisadebe is the Polish one - my dad always bought him cause he was ridiculously fast in PES2.
Here's my squad:
GK: Cronin, Lewis DF: G. Milito, Burdisso, Dante, Sedoc, Heirufinga MF: Battaglia, Cesc, Accardi, Sorin, Zicu, Fredson Pereira FW: Francia, Sinama-Pongolle, Nano, Xisco, Vonlanthen, Luque, Buffel
Most of them have multiple positions too so they can sub in for each other when injured etc.

I'm now in the 4th season of my 3 star game (I tend to play until I've won the treble) and am winning pretty much every game by a decent margin. One thing that's been bugging me is I can never get past 6-0 if I'm really stuffing a team. Today I was 5-0 up at half time and still only managed 1 more goal. But then...who do I have next in the league but Arsenal, who are 1 place above me having not lost any games. Final score: Loire Ocean 8 - 0 Arsenal Arsenal = binned Even so the trend continued - I was 6-0 up at half time in that one too...

I've only just started my second season, but I am in the first division and am doing quite well. My best result so far is 4-0.
I spent the whole of the pre-season training my players with corners etc, not realising you could press R1 to get to shooting practice. Grrr.

I finished 3rd in my first season Yeah some of the menus are a bit stupid - I didn't notice the individual training menu until halfway through my 2nd season.

I've still not played against the computer yet. I am lagging behind in the PES stakes!

I'm just about done with this league I'm doing - I say we pick a league, a difficulty level and all start it at the same time.

I started my first Pro Evo 4 Master league campaign a week ago. Pondered over the opening options, then ended up tinkering with the custom team thing and creating Real Disko (shamefully influenced by the godawful Eastenders pub football team thing). Replaced 3 of the starting master league players with equally useless utility players.
First game, won 2-0. Two penalties. For nothing.
Second game, won 3-1. Penalty again for even less than in the last game (computer defender happened to be in the same post code as my attacker so referee pointed to the spot). It's great the computer finally gets penalised for all its fouling, but decisions are given far too readily now. Gone from one extreme to the other.
A draw here, defeat in the cup there, a couple more wins and a loss and I'm second of some crappy division two.
Then the transfer window opened! Didn't have much funds to play with. And didn't realise you had to put players on the transfer market before offloading them (stops your best players receiving 5 offers every week I suppose). I noticed that the starting players are crap but worth a lot for some reason. I was trying to trade for players, but my original players were worth a lot more than those I was going for.
End of transfer window, ended up with 2 new players of no real ability and more money than I started with. Not really what I wanted at that stage, considering my team are so shit.
Then got bored and haven't played since.
Now can someone please tell me why the hell do you have to train after each game to regain condition? What a load of ABSOLUTE POINTLESS BOLLOCKS! Ok so no-one used the training mode, doesn't mean we should be forced into training. And why the hell isn't there an option to tell the opposition in training mode not to KICK THE BALL MILES AWAY everytime they take it off you? Bastards.

It's not pointless bollocks.
It means that once you have done it (and come on, it only takes around a minute) then your players will have at least green arrows.
I hated it in PES3 where you were coming to a really important game and all of a sudden your best players would have the down grey arrows.

I didn't say it doesn't give benefits, I mean it's pointless to force you into wasting time loading up the training and just kicking the ball aimlessly for 30 seconds or so. It's not like you have to do anything in particular - just fart about and suddenly you've done enough. It is by far the most pointless addition to the series since they thought Terry Butcher would make for a good co-commentator. It's a bit like if they made you check the tyre pressure of the cars in GTA before you hopped in and nicked off with the motor. Utterly crap.
