Being a huge fan of the movie, I had to buy the game.
Seeing as though I was off work with flu, I completed it within a week. I was doing 6 or 7 hours a day on the damn thing.
Turns out it's the best game I've ever played.
It starts off 3 months before the 'Big Meet' in the park. You get to play as all The Warriors throughout the game. Even playing Flashback levels to show how they became gang members.
During the previous 3 months, you get to rumble with gangs that are mentioned/seen briefly in the movie. Then you get to the park meet up...and have to get back to Coney. Fighting the Turnbull AC's, The Orphans, The Baseball Furies, The Punks and eventually The Rogues.
Hats off to Rockstar for another amazing game.

Has to be one of the best movies of all time. Couldn't decide on whether to get the game or not, but you may have convinced me.
What style of game is it? I guess it's a beat-em-up, but is it free roaming a-la GTA, or more linear?

It's very Beat Em Up Free Roaming GTA stylee.
Throughout the game you need cash. Obviously you don't have a job. So what's the best thing to do? That's right, mug people, steal car radios & beat up dealers.
Also when completed, you get an arcade machine in your hangout. You play as Ajax and Swan in a Double Dragon style game where you have to save Mercy.
I, however, have not been able to use the game. Because you have to complete all the Flashback levels. And I'm struggling on the Swan/Cowboy one.

I got the game at Christmas, and due to getting snowed in in Norfolk, I have been playing it a lot.
Two days before the meeting.....

The police annoy me the most. Especially in the train yard mission where there are the security guards too.
Though nothing is more satisfying than smashing a brick into their faces.

...or a Cochise fury combo!
Lift em up, drop em down spine first onto your knee.
Or just beating on a bum then smashing him face first into a wall...just for a dollar.

Some of the two player moves are gruesome. It's amazing what you can get away with in games nowadays.
Did you manage to et 100% on normal difficulty?

Yes.
Eventually.
I had to go back and do some of the levels at least twice more.
You know, tag everything...beat up so many gang members and what not.
It becomes a real pain in the arse when you really want to reach 100%.
I'm still trying to get the full 100% on all 4 GTA games.
GTAIII is at 98%
GTA:VC is at 97%
GTA:SA is at 92%
GTA:LCS is at 78%
Pain. In. The. Arse.

The only GTA I got 100% at was Vice City, and then all I got was that lousy T-Shirt....
I know what you mean about the Tags. It annoys me the most when yo uare about to do a tag using only one can, and right when you have nearly finished someone hits you.
