I remember seeing a documentary about atkins diet when I was very, very, very bored some time last year. Apparently universities and experts tried to figure out the secret of the diet, and after numerous tests, found high protein foods make you feel less hungry, so the people on the Atkins diet actually tend to eat less (even though they can in theory eat more) than before they were on it. Eating fatty foods makes you feel hungrier still, so there's no point stuffing your face with fried food and thinking you'll be losing weight as fast as someone who's just had their leg sawn off.
At the end of the day, the secret to losing weight and dieting is this: DON'T EAT SO MUCH BLOODY FOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE AND/OR GET SOME EXCERISE. That's pretty much the tried and tested formula that has worked since the year dot. Just ask those Ethiopians that Bob Gedolf loves to exploit in his crusades. I could probably do with losing a couple of stones myself, but I like food too much to bother.

Exercise and a diet that's wise and a bit of diddly-dum.

except when left to my own devices I dont eat and yet put weight when i start to eat normal sized meals again, most diet things say only eat when youre hungry but for me a lot of the time i have no appitite and 'forget' to eat, The amount of calories i have eaten mon-thurs (started atkins today) is probably less than the recomended daily amount for 1 day problem is after practicly starving my self (unintentionally) all week I then go and have takeaways etc at the weekend. put the eat less thoery out lol

Just one egg? Is that all you ate for breakfast?

I had a banana shake that consisted of 2 bananas, 1 egg and a cup of milk. I wonder if thats too much?
I'm like you Claire, I forget to eat sometimes. It's like I get so focused or preoccupied with the task at hand that I don't feel any hunger pains and if someone doesn't remind me to eat than I simply don't eat.
